Link: Apply for the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card with a huge bonus
The $99 annual fee IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card is a popular Chase credit card that I think is worth having. Several weeks ago, we saw an improved limited time welcome offer rolled out on this card, making it a great time to apply. I wanted to recap all the details of the offer in this post.
In this post:
IHG Premier Card 165K points welcome bonus
For applications through Wednesday, April 3, 2024, the IHG Premier Card is offering a welcome bonus where you can earn 165,000 IHG points after spending $3,000 within the first three months.
I value IHG One Rewards points at 0.5 cents each, so to me the 165,000 bonus points are worth $825. As a point of comparison, previously the card offered a bonus of 140,000 points, so this is quite a bit better.
Why you should get the IHG Premier Card
With my hotel strategy, IHG isn’t my primary hotel group, but I still strategically find lots of value with the program, given IHG’s huge global footprint. There are many reasons to have the IHG Premier Card, including:
- IHG One Rewards Platinum status just for having the card; IHG elite status can be valuable for room upgrades and other perks, and you can unlock even more value with the Milestone Rewards program
- The ability to earn IHG One Rewards Diamond status when you spend $40,000 on the card in a calendar year; this won’t be worth it for everyone, but does offer some valuable perks
- An anniversary free night certificate every year, valid at a property costing up to 40,000 points; you can top that off with points to redeem at more expensive properties
- Up to $50 in United TravelBank credit annually, in the form of up to a $25 credit every six months
- A fourth night free on award redemptions
- A Global Entry, TSA PreCheck, or NEXUS credit once every four years

Bottom line
The IHG Premier Card has a limited time welcome bonus of 165,000 IHG points after spending $3,000 within the first three months.
Not only is this a great bonus, but the card’s value proposition is excellent. This is a card that should be worth holding onto in the long run, given the anniversary free night award, fourth night free on award redemptions, IHG Platinum status, United TravelBank credit, and more.
If you’ve been considering this card but haven’t yet applied, this is the time to do so…
Anyone plan on picking up the IHG Premier Card with this bonus?
Hey Lucky, I can't apply for this card since I still have the Select card. Will IHG let me upgrade?
It's getting harder and harder to use the Select Free night since it's capped at 40K and you can't use additional points to go above 40K. I'm finding the value of that 40K free night with the Select card going down and down each year as it seems prices keep increasing.
Don't forget that the Select card is the only card that offers cardholders a 10% rebate on their points redemptions, and once you upgrade it (which, yes, IHG will let you do) there's no going back. So make sure that you're very sure that it's no longer worth keeping before you give Chase a call.
If you prefer the current card, you can alternatively look into canceling the Select card and then getting a SUB for the current one.
I already have the Premier but want the business version. Should I expect this offer will trickle down? Is there normally a lag but equal offer with the business cards? Or is the current 140k as good as it gets?
