One of the benefits of The Platinum Card® from American Express has just been improved considerably.

Amex digital entertainment credit adds partners
The $695 annual fee Amex Platinum Card (Rates & Fees) offers all kinds of perks, including many types of credits. This card underwent a refresh in mid-2021, whereby we saw the annual fee on the card increased, and at the same time, we saw several new perks added.
One of those perks was a digital entertainment credit of up to $240 per year, in the form of a $20 monthly statement credit on eligible subscriptions with any of the following:
- Audible
- Peacock
- The New York Times
This credit has become more valuable with four additional partners. The Amex Platinum digital entertainment credit can now also be used toward purchases with the following:
- Disney+
- The Disney Bundle
- ESPN+
- Hulu
Is this digital entertainment credit change a big deal?
The Amex Platinum is well worth the annual fee, but the reality is that everyone gets value out of different aspects of the perks. For example, besides benefits like airport lounge access, the Amex Platinum offers up to $1,874 in credits per year.
I would assume that a vast majority of cardmembers aren’t using all of those credits, but the reality is that even if you use just a few of the available ones, you could quickly come out ahead on the annual fee.
In the case of the digital entertainment credit, I can only speak for myself, but:
- I haven’t been using the credit since I haven’t valued a subscription with any of those providers all that much
- That being said, I’ll take advantage of a Hulu subscription if Amex is picking up the tab
So I’d consider this a pretty awesome change, and it’ll definitely improve the value I get out of the card.
Bottom line
The Amex Platinum Card digital entertainment credit can now be used toward purchases with Disney+, The Disney Bundle, ESPN+, and Hulu, in addition to the four existing partners.
It’s always great to see Amex credits get more flexibility, given that they’re generally quite restrictive. Of course, that’s fair enough, given just how many credits are offered.

Since I already pay for HBO Max and Hulu the value of the $240 credit has gone from worthless to $240. Great addition.
I still think the NY Times credit is the best way to take advantage of this offer. Supporting journalism is badly needed these days, especially in the lights of what's happening in Russia.

Coincidentally, amex delta reserve has an offer that I am using basically giving you the Disney bundle for free through August. Spend $13.99 get the same credit back. Quite frankly I hate the bundle. As a cord cutter espn+ removes a lot of live events because you're not associated with a tv/cable provider. And for hulu you need to spend an extra $6 to remove ads. Disney + has maybe 1 new show per week...

That's because other credit cards that offer this credit include it. Actually it's not a good idea for credit cards to have the same benefits as other cards because it does not serve the purpose of keeping the customers. People just have too much money toward a certain benefit then. It really benefits the credit card company when people don't use all of the benefits.

Only the personal platinum Amex. The biz has its own set of perks geared towards software, dell products etc.

Apparently you see nothing wrong with your comment "likely because they share a different view than yours." There in lies the problem, journalism should be "writing characterized by a direct presentation of facts or description of events without an attempt at interpretation". They should not be "sharing a different view" than anyone. Just report the news truthfully...which the Times has a hard time doing.

This is good news for me as i get peacock for free (somehow maybe through my ISP?) and i have no use for NYT or Sirius. I have had Hulu in the past but not now and i need to reup my espn+ anyways here soon so now im all onboard with this offer!

Level 2 Peacock (all content, ads) is free to Comcast customers and customers of many other cable companies.
Everybody pays for Level 3 (all content, no ads).
A few months ago I was on the fence about signing up for Disney+. With the way Disney corporate is pushing against parental rights and the protection of preschool children in Florida they will not get one dime from me. This is supposed to be the epitome of a family friendly company- not any more.

I find some value in Audible but was having trouble finding a use for the remainder $5/month. It seems Disney+ will be nearly covered now.
With Disney+, Hulu and ESPN, I agree this is a much better value. Now if only they would add Netflix and I'd consider this benefit "as good as cash."
Pretty big improvement for me. Across NYT, Peacock, Disney bundle I can get full $240 value on two separate cards. With all the credits I come out ahead easily before even considering lounge access.
Doesn't disney bundle include disney+, Hulu ad free and espn+ for like $19 a month. I guess you can do it ala carte or all together. I find little value in Audible as it's just too limited but I do like the Sirusxm credit.
I'm also going to assume there is some signup bonus potential with some of these.
