IHG One Rewards has just launched its newest global promotion, which is valid exclusively for stays in January 2024. In this post I wanted to recap the details of this offer, for anyone who has IHG stays over the coming weeks.

IHG One Rewards’ current global promotion offers members double points on all stays, plus 2,000 bonus points after staying at two or more brands. As you’d expect, there are some details to be aware of:
- The promotion is valid for stays between January 1 and January 31, 2024
- There is no booking deadline, so nights consumed anytime during the promotion period are eligible, as long as you register in time
- All paid nights booked directly with IHG qualify for this promotion, as long as the nightly rate is at least $30 (award nights don’t qualify)
- There’s no limit to how many bonus points you can earn with the double points promotion, but you can earn the 2,000 bonus points only once
- Bonus points will post up to six weeks after an eligible stay
How lucrative is this IHG One Rewards promo?
IHG One Rewards members ordinarily earn the following return on spending at IHG properties:
- IHG offers 10x points per dollar spent at most brands, and 5x points per dollar spent at Candlewood Suites and Staybridge Suites
- IHG members receive bonus points — Silver members receive a 20% bonus, Gold members receive a 40% bonus, Platinum members receive a 60% bonus, and Diamond members receive a 100% bonus
- If you pay with the IHG One Rewards Premier Credit Card (review) or IHG One Rewards Premier Business Credit Card (review), you earn 10x IHG bonus points per dollar spent
Personally I value IHG points at ~0.5 cents each. So, how lucrative does that make this promotion?
- Double points earns you 10x bonus points per dollar spent at most brands, which is the equivalent of an incremental 5% return
- 2,000 bonus points earned after staying at two brands is the equivalent of an incremental $10 return
I’d say this promotion is fairly lucrative, but then again, it’s only valid for a month.

This is quite a good offer, as you’re earning a total of 10x bonus points at most brands, plus 2,000 bonus points after staying at two brands.
