San Francisco is one of the few cities in the world to have two Four Seasons properties — the Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco and the Four Seasons Hotel San Francisco at Embarcadero.
In this post I wanted to cover the basics of the two properties, especially since one is brand new. I also wanted to share the best ways to maximize value for stays at either of these hotels (which is to take advantage of promotions and book through a Four Seasons Preferred Partner agent).
In this post:
Book with Four Seasons Preferred Partner
If you are going to book either of the Four Seasons properties in San Francisco, you should book through a Travel Advisor who is affiliated with Four Seasons Preferred Partner. This is a program available to select Travel Advisors, where they can add value for your stays without it costing you anything extra.
Four Seasons Preferred Partner offers extra perks like daily breakfast, room upgrades, resort credits, and more, all at no additional cost to the guest. Four Seasons Preferred Partner can be combined with virtually any promotions offered directly by the hotel.
Just to give an example, the Four Seasons San Francisco charges a minimum of an extra $40 per night for a rate that includes breakfast, though through Preferred Partner you can get that at no extra cost.
If you’re booking Four Seasons and you’re not doing so through a Preferred Partner agent then you’re doing it wrong. It’s also better to book through Preferred Partner than through Amex Fine Hotels & Resorts. Why?
- Upgrades are prioritized for Preferred Partner guests over Fine Hotels & Resorts guests
- Preferred Partner guests get room service breakfast or restaurant breakfast, while Fine Hotels & Resorts guests only get restaurant breakfast
- Preferred Partner perks can be combined with virtually any promotion being offered directly by Four Seasons, while Fine Hotels & Resorts perks can’t be
If you’d like to make a booking at either Four Seasons San Francisco property to get the best deal, and/or have a question about Preferred Partner, you can reach out to Ford at [email protected]. Travel Advisors may even be able to help if you already have existing bookings.
Which Four Seasons San Francisco property is better?
The two Four Seasons San Francisco properties both have their pros. The Four Seasons San Francisco:
- Opened in 2001
- Is located in the heart of the Yerba Buena Arts District, near Union Square, the Moscone Convention Center, the Museum of Modern Art, and the financial district
- Features a total of 277 accommodations, including 231 guest rooms and 46 suites
- Has an MKT Restaurant, and offers access to the connected Equinox Sports Club
The Four Seasons San Francisco at Embarcadero:
- Opened in 2020, so it’s one of San Francisco’s newest luxury hotels
- Is located steps from cable car routes, and a short walk from Union Square, the Ferry Building, and Fisherman’s Wharf, as well as Chinatown and Little Italy
- Features just 155 rooms and suites, and takes up the top 11 floors of the distinctive 48-story 345 California Center building
Which Four Seasons property in San Francisco is better? If you’re looking for a property close to the financial district, the Four Seasons San Francisco is the more traditional business hotel. Meanwhile the Four Seasons at Embarcadero is brand new, and offers incredible views of some of San Francisco’s most famous sites, including the Golden Gate Bridge, the Transamerica Pyramid, Alcatraz Island, the Bay Bridge, and San Francisco Bay.
Four Seasons San Francisco offers & promotions
Both Four Seasons properties in San Francisco regularly have promotions that guests can take advantage of when booking, including for Preferred Partner rates. Currently the Four Seasons San Francisco has the following promotions:

Bottom line
San Francisco has some phenomenal hotels, and the two Four Seasons properties are among the best. The San Francisco location is a popular business hotel near the financial district, while the Embarcadero location is brand new, and features incredible views.
Regardless of which Four Seasons property you book, make sure you’re maximizing value by booking through a Preferred Partner agent, who can help you take advantage of any promotions, and add even further perks.
